Bavarian Bliss

Munich consistently ranks as one of the "most liveable cities" in the world, and in fact was named number one in 2018 .  For a city that was once the cradle of Nazism, then a smouldering ruin, that's pretty good!

We enjoyed a tour of Nymphenburg Palace, a traditional Munich lunch at the Chinese Tower in the English Gardens, a walking tour of historic Munich, and a Bavarian evening a the famous Hofbrauhaus.

Nymphenburg Palace has never hosted such a refined group before.
Keep smiling!

You may not know that Darren is training to take over the trips starting next year.  This was his third training run.  We'll see.

That little angel with the red ribbon around its backside is an optical illusion.  You had to be there.

The desk where Ludwig II went crazy.

That woman, Lola Montez, a real Irish dancer and fake Spanish princess, really pulled on over on the King of Bavaria.  Made him look like a fool.  Then she headed off to the Gold Rush in California.

Emmett estimates the weight of the very unguarded most valuable piece in the entire palace.

Skulls are cool.

Ornaments on ornaments in the Asam Church.

This kid's not impressed.
Deep in coversation at the Hofbrauhaus.

Who is that?

Birthday boy Stephen on the ground in front of the Hofbrauhaus.  We helped him up.
